We will strive to maintain partnerships with all of our citizens in order to provide the most responsive and the highest quality police services possible.  We strive to understand and to meet the needs of our citizens, and to improve the quality of their lives by impartially maintaining order, innovatively solving problems, actively preventing criminal acts and by aggressively apprehending criminals in a manner which is consistent with the law and is reflective of shared community values.

Department Summary:
The Springfield Police Department is an accredited department comprised of thirty-nine (39) sworn police officers supported by a staff of five (5) administrative personnel and two (2) animal control officers.  The Police Department is a full service law enforcement organization with Patrol, Detective, Narcotic, SWAT, Traffic, Canine, Crime Scene, Bicycle/Crime Suppression, Police Explorer, Crime Prevention, Crime Stoppers and Animal Control personnel.

The Springfield Police Department constantly strives to recruit, develop and maintain the highest quality personnel to provide protection and service to the community.  The department researches and seeks the most up-to-date technology necessary to assure efficient investigations and the safest apprehension of suspects who have violated the law.  The Police Department constantly seeks opportunities to partner with public and private entities to prevent crime, to protect people and property and to enhance the quality of life for all citizens.
