Springfield Phone Scam - Some using 800 numbers

Citizens of Springfield are receiving calls from an 800-number telling them that they had 30 to 45 minutes before their electricity would be cut off.  When pressed for information, they were told to go to CVS on Memorial Boulevard to make a payment.  The phone number being used is 800-646-0674.

1/16/2018 update:  Reported today that scammers are using 800-320-8652 as another number to call the City of Springfield.  This is not a number for the City.   The Police Department has been informed of this scam today.

The City of Springfield does not call citizens and demand payment for any reason.   Please hang up on these scammers and report the number to the Police Department.
