The Springfield Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that occurred on Tuesday May 17, 2016 around 9:15 PM at Novedades Mariela Market located on 10th Avenue East.
The suspect entered the market armed with a Semi-Auto handgun pointed the weapon at the clerk and demanded money. The suspect then pointed his weapon at a customer and demanded more money after the clerk had compiled with his demand.
The suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money and no one was injured during the incident.
The suspect is described as a white male, 5’10 to 6 feet tall, wearing blue jeans, black pullover sweatshirt with a white logo on the back just below the neck, and a black stocking cap with a white emblem on it also. He also appeared to be wearing a nylon stocking over his head and face.
Springfield police Detective Charles Bogle is investigating the case.
