Mechanical Permits

The City of Springfield Codes Department requires that all HVAC systems (example:  gas, split/gas, split/heat pump, heat pump, electric, etc.) being installed within the city limits of Springfield to obtain a Mechanical Permit Application prior to installation of work. Upon complete installation of work performed, please contact Amy Lynn Darrow, Administrative Secretary of Community Development & Planning, at 615-380-8618 to request an inspection by the Code Department or for any questions.  The Codes Department inspects all HVAC systems based on the International Mechanical Code, 2012 edition.  During inspection, if the Codes Department finds anything not within city code or the best interest of the homeowner, the Codes Department will notify the permit holder of what changes need to be made; at which time you must have the contractor correct needed changes, and undergo an additional inspection for a cost of $35.00 before service can be established.  Upon passing inspection, an order will be placed to have a customer service representative install the meter and establish service.
